A peaceful and green setting in an unspoilt mountain village
The house is located in the centre of the village of Lescun, in a peaceful environment with lovely open views over nature.
  • Essential daily shops are available in the village, just a few minutes’ walk from the house. For a wider range of shops, amenities and services, Accous or Bedous (notably for its weekly market) offer more comprehensive options, both less than 10 minutes away by car.
  • Nursery and primary schools are available in Accous (8km) and Bedous (10km), as well as the lower secondary school. Upper secondary schools are located in Oloron-Sainte-Marie (36km). School transport services are available and make daily journeys easier.
  • The nearest railway station is in Bedous (about 10km away). It is the terminus of the TER Nouvelle-Aquitaine line from Bedous to Pau, with stops such as Sarrance, Oloron-Sainte-Marie and Buzy. Oloron-Sainte-Marie station offers more services and connections to other destinations.
Perched at an altitude of 900 metres in the heart of a spectacular mountain cirque, Lescun is one of the most beautiful villages in the Béarnaise Pyrenees. Its charm lies as much in its stone heritage as in its unspoilt surroundings, made of sharp peaks, deep forests and peaceful pastures.
In this postcard landscape, life flows with the seasons, between village conviviality, fresh-air walks and quiet contemplation.
Here, you live between sky and peaks, close to nature and traditions, in a setting both harsh and sublime, where each bend opens onto a valley, a flock, or a silence.
Highlights of the Béarn
Highlights of the Béarn
At the heart of a department full of contrasts and strong identity...
The Pyrénées-Atlantiques department offers a rare quality of life, shaped by contrasting landscapes, a vibrant culture and a natural charm that wins hearts instantly. Every detour reveals a different facet, between Basque traditions, Béarnaise character and breathtaking scenery.
Its narrow valleys, streams and waterfalls, lakes and wooded mountains offer countless opportunities for cultural, historical, gastronomic or outdoor discoveries. Highlights include:
  • The stunning valleys of Aspe, Ossau and Barétous, with a wide range of activities (hiking, etc.).
  • The Pyrenees mountain range with its majestic peaks, in the unspoilt setting of the Pyrenees National Park.
  • Beautiful towns of Art and History (Oloron-Ste-Marie, Pau, Bayonne, ...).
  • Some of the most beautiful villages in France (Salies-de-Béarn, Sauveterre-de-Béarn, Navarrenx, Ainhoa, La Bastide-Clairence, Sare, …).
  • A superb Atlantic coastline, from the Basque coast to the surf beaches of Biarritz, Anglet and Saint-Jean-de-Luz.
  • Remarkable places to explore, such as the prehistoric caves of Isturitz and Oxocelhaya or the impressive rack railway of La Rhune, which climbs to 905m for a breathtaking view.
  • A rich cultural life, with numerous traditional festivals and “ferias” and a vibrant Basque heritage (language, music, pelota, dance, …).
  • Generous and flavourful local specialities (foie gras, garbure, poule au pot, cured hams, Espelette peppers, sheep’s cheese, Jurançon wine, ...).
Beaches of the Atlantic coast
The beaches of the Atlantic coast
... ideally located between ocean (2h away) and mountains, with Spain just nearby
Bordering Spain and lying between a royal city (Pau) and authentic countryside, the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department stretches with elegance from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pyrenean peaks.
The variety of landscapes is a rare asset: in just a few kilometers, you go from rolling farmland to mountain ridges to a wild and invigorating coast.
  • From Hendaye to Anglet, beaches alternate between long stretches of golden sand and secluded coves tucked between cliffs. This lively yet unspoilt coastline offers a magnificent setting to relax and recharge by the Atlantic. The beaches are 2 hours’ drive from the house.
  • In winter, skiing takes over with five ski resorts, including three less than 1h30 from the house—among the most popular in the Pyrenees (La Pierre Saint-Martin, Artouste and Gourette)—and two in Spain (Astun and Candanchu), less than 45 minutes away. They offer a wide range of snow activities in a friendly atmosphere and breathtaking landscapes.
For cyclists, the legendary mountain passes such as Aubisque or Marie-Blanque provide an exceptional playground.
  • The region’s benefits also extend to its renowned spa resorts, such as Salies-de-Béarn or Eaux-Bonnes, where naturally rich waters and wellness treatments can be enjoyed in a peaceful setting.
  • Spain is very close (35 minutes through the Somport road tunnel), with iconic cities like Pamplona within two hours. This easy access to another culture and lifestyle adds a valuable dimension to life here.
